Let’s face it. Big bore guns are cool. There’s nothing that will grab your attention like a fat case with a huge chunk of bullet protruding from its mouth. However, big bore cartridges have traditionally been long, unwieldy things chambered in equally long, heavy rifles. Then along came Cross Outdoors and our line of proprietary cartridges.

500 CYRUS

The 500 Cyrus is a true short action .50 caliber cartridge designed by Cross Outdoors. It was developed with the idea of being the most powerful short action in the world, capable of stopping anything on four legs while being housed in a standard weight bolt rifle. But this cartridge is no one trick pony. With reduced powder charges and lighter bullets, the 500 Cyrus makes an exceptional cartridge for deer and other medium sized game. The 500 Cyrus may well be one of the most versatile chamberings ever developed. Just as the name implies, the 500 Cyrus can use any .500” diameter bullet on the market. We highly recommend Lehigh bullets to all of our customers.

50 TAC

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know that the tactical shooting market has exploded in recent years. The 50 TAC was developed in response to customer requests for a version of the 500 Cyrus that would accept .510” diameter bullets usually intended for the 50 BMG. Rifles are usually built on standard long actions to accommodate the longer high BC bullets. We have developed target / long range loads utilizing various bullets such as the 645 gr match bullets from Lehigh and the 750 gr A-Max from Hornady. We have sub-sonic loads using a proprietary 606 gr slotted hollow-point bullet fromLehigh that works exceptionally well in suppressed applications. The 50 TAC also makes an outstanding hunting round with bullets available ranging from 300-600 gr from makers such as Lehigh, Barnes, Hornady, and Woodleigh.
